Fresh Bread Retreats

Space to Breathe

Rest. Reflect. Renew.

Fresh Bread Retreats, founded by Rev Kath Cooke, offers women time away from the noise of everyday life — creating space to rest, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Time set apart to be still, reflect deeply and return renewed. Through guided reflection, rest, gentle spiritual practices and a variety of speakers, Fresh Bread creates space for women to pause, breathe and be renewed — just as they are.

Rest is not a reward — it's a gift.

What is a retreat?

Life can be full of pressures & demands. A retreat gives an opportunity to pause, ponder & gain a different perspective. The retreat creates space for you to rest and relax. Time for space & silence during the day, as well as opportunities to talk together & gain insights from others if that's helpful. An opportunity for you to just 'Be still and know that God is God.'

Why Fresh Bread?

The name Fresh Bread conveys the sense of God's longing to nourish us everyday with the Living Bread of Jesus. It was also partly inspired by one of the prayers from Ffald Y Brenin, a Christian retreat centre and House of Prayer in West Wales:
We thank you Lord, that as the day unfolds, you continually desire to speak to us, to speak a new word to us; to give us fresh bread for today to nourish and sustain us.
— Prayer from Ffald y Brenin

About Kath

Life has a way of filling every corner if you let it. As a mum, a vicar, a wife, a friend — there always seemed to be more to give, more to do, more to be. And for a while, I just kept giving until there wasn’t much left. What turned things around wasn’t a plan or a programme. It was discovering the simple, surprising gift of space — retreat, stillness, room to breathe. It crept up on me slowly, and then it changed everything. Fresh Bread grew out of that. Not out of having it all together, but out of knowing what it’s like to need it. I wanted to create somewhere women could come and exhale — somewhere safe, unhurried, and warm. Somewhere you don’t have to perform or produce. Just be. I’m an Anglican vicar based in the Cotswolds, and I’ve spent decades walking alongside people through the full texture of life. I know how to hold space. I know how to listen. And I know that you are very welcome here, exactly as you are.
Jesus says: "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace."
— Matthew 11:28
